My SAHRR Curves block

Here is how I did on my goals last week:
❌1. Wedding quilt blocks
❌2. RBD challenge block - need to catch up on blocks
✅3. SAHRR block - curves - done and posted here
✅4. Doctor appointments, errands, and babysitting while daughter does divorce mediation - done

Next week plans:
1. RBD challenge blocks
2. SAHRR block - diamonds
3. Wedding quilt blocks

Last Friday was mediation for our daughter's divorce. Our little grandson had a 24 hour virus with fever, so the decision was to do the mediation by video conference with the attorneys and mediator. Our daughter stayed in her bedroom with door closed, while we took care of the sick little guy. (He is better now!) The soon-to-be ex is mulishly inflexible (that's about as nicely as I can put it), and even the mediator commented on his temper and obstinacy and his haggling over furniture, which caused the mediation to go on over 9 hours! Our daughter received compliments on her calmness and level-headedness in the face of his attempts to bully her through the mediator. Thank God for the people skills of the mediator, because the results were better than we had anticipated. She still has many difficult challenges ahead and is going through a lot of "what-ifs" and worry and sadness right now, but she will be so much better off without him! The one thing they do agree on is that she will be the primary parent in joint custody. Now that the mediation is behind us, my mind is gravitating back to the sewing room! Thank you for "listening"! 😊

Please join with the other 30 bloggers who posted last week and add your post to the linkup below. We would love to read about your week!

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

  7. I'm sorry your daughter's divorce mediation was so difficult, Linda. She must have been exhausted after that long day. So wonderful that she has you there for support and to be with the kids when they need you. Meanwhile your SAHRR looks great! Thanks for hosting us each Tuesday!

  9. Would you mind giving me your measurements for your center block of the build a border project. I do like that block so very much….log cabin, beautiful red fabric….who know why some things catch our eye so strongly? I would appreciate any info you can give me. Carol in Texas

    1. Hi Carol, I hope you check back here to see the link for the block. It is a Moda block called "Christmas Logs", and here is the link for it:
      https://my.modafabrics.com/2018/12/dec-13-christmas-logs.html
The fabric is an older fabric I had in my stash, and unfortunately I don't have a selvage to show me what it is!

    2. Also the block measures over 15 inches square, but that is because I failed to follow the instructions to trim it after each "log" went on! So the measurement is supposed to be 12-1/2 inches.

  10. I'll be praying for you and your family as your daughter makes the transition to being a single parent. Difficult times for all of you. I hope that the time back in your sewing room will be therapeutic for you. Blessings! M

  12. Glad it went well for your daughter, with your wonderful support of her and her son. Nothing more important than them, but glad you can get back to sewing!

  13. Hi Linda! What a creative way to make your curves! They look great and they do give the idea of gentle movement. I have to agree with you - sewing the curved pieces together does remind me, too, of my past sewing experiences and easing in a sleeve. It's very nice that the seams don't need to be clipped though, isn't it?!! Your piece is shaping up nicely. Now to see what you do with diamonds! Thank you so much for the linky party today! I'm so glad your daughter could take the high road and not let him bully her. It's a shame that it comes down to furniture for him. He'll be petty the rest of the time she has to deal with him until your grandson is 18. {{Hugs}} a bunch for all of you. ~smile~ Roseanne

  14. Hi Linda. Sure hope your grandson is feeling better. It’s wonderful that you are able to help your daughter and be there for her through these trying times. Good that at least custody wasn’t a hard fought battle. I do hope you can find some calm and serenity in your studio. Fabric therapy always works.

  16. Thanks again for continuing to host this weekly linky party. I’m sorry for what your daughter is going through with her divorce, but I like the description “mulishly inflexible”. I have a friend in Florida who is also going through a divorce and that term absolutely applies to her spouse. I really love how your SAHRR project is shaping up.

  18. What a long mediation! I'm glad to hear mommy got custody. That, unfortunately didn't happen for my youngest daughter. Now she gets weekends and is the one who has to pay the child support too.

  19. So sorry for what your daughter is going through, but glad the steps are progressing. I hope my kids never go through that.
