Christmas Gift!

My husband and I enjoyed a quiet Christmas, our 58th together since we started dating on December 17, 1962.

Christmas was a bit different for us this year, as it was for most folks. Our son and family were supposed to come Monday and stay until Wednesday, and our daughter and family were to come on Tuesday for us all to celebrate early this year. Last Friday I started having a dry cough and by Saturday was having more symptoms of coronavirus. I had an oral swab on Monday and by Wednesday evening had my test result, which was positive. In the meantime we informed the kids, and we decided to celebrate on a 3-day weekend in January or February. This was pretty depressing to me for a couple days, but now I am at peace with it. I always believe that God is in my life and that things turn out for the best in His perfect plans.

I did finish all the stockings! Each fabric was chosen specially for the recipient from my Christmas stash, and the names were cross-stitched. We bought stocking stuffers on the Friday I started coughing. Hopefully all the candy inside will stay fresh until we celebrate!

In spite of the circumstances, I am so grateful to be in our new home with the promise of a new year just around the corner. I hope all of you are finding peace and happiness this Christmas season!

  1. So sorry to hear about your diagnosis and waylaid plans, Linda! The Christmas stockings each turned out adorable! Your home is beautifully decorated. Thanks for sharing it here! God bless.

  2. Oh, that is awful! We stayed with our son, who had a scare a few weeks ago. I am so looking forward to the end of this virus. I guess you can cavort freely now that you have had it!

  3. I'm so sorry that you contracted the virus, and just before all the Christmas festivities. I'm glad your family was understanding, and also glad that you can reschedule and get together in January. Rest and take care. I hope your symptoms continue to be mild. Will be praying for you.

  4. Christmas was weird for everyone this year, and I'm sorry that yours turned out the way that it did, but the worst is behind you. May 2021 bring you more happiness than ever in your new home!

  5. OH Linda - I am so sorry for you! A friend who lives close to Dallas had it and she took an antibiotic, lost the taste and smell (I think) took Zinc, and Vitamin D. She and a friend of Clay’s caught it - he did not feel good for over 2 weeks.
She was 67 and He was 77. I do hope that you are getting medication and that you recover quickly. Yes there is always a blessing (?) reason for things to happen. I learned that one real well this soon to be past year! Get well soon! Candy will be fine.. Hugs

  6. Oh dear, what a Christmas present! I hope you aren't feeling too sick. It seems to affect everyone differently. Our kids stayed home this year, too, to avoid the possibility of exposing us to anything, but I had a couple of very sad days about it. We'll get through this!

  7. So sorry your celebration had to be canceled. Getting COVID for Christmas had to be so frustrating and depressing. Hopefully you are feeling much, much better now.
