Welcome to To Do Tuesday on this second week of October. You are invited to share with us by clicking on the link below to add your post to the 25+ bloggers who link up each week - we would love to see whatis going on in your world! You may not feel you have anything to post about, but your creativity is in everything you do, and you never know what is going to inspire another person. If you need more information, just click on the couple above.

How is your month going? Are you already feeling the pull of Christmas like I am? Apparently Lowe's is feeling it too!

Here were my goals for last week:
✅1. Start on quilting The Wedding Quilt - Started! Taking it slow on this one..
❌2. Decide on sashing and start putting RBD quilt together - Nope, but I did get it out of the closet!
✅3. Work on coin purses - I finished cutting out fabric for 3 purses
❌4. Work on autumn wall hanging - Nada
❌5. Work on crochet hat - It was sitting next to me every night before I became transfixed with whatever series we were watching - lol!
❌6. Have our daughter and The Littles up for visit on Saturday! This was postponed for another couple weeks. 😞

Copper pipe insulation wrap

Last week Jocelyn described in her post the less-than-pleasant process of sandwiching a quilt on the floor. I used to have the same issues described by Jocelyn, so I started doing mine on my design wall. Unfortunately I have to climb on a ladder to reach all parts of my quilts, so that is an issue for me as I get older and am told by my husband and children "Don't climb on ladders!" Have you heard of the quilt sandwiching method using pool noodles as rollers, such as in this video? And this video shows how to use copper pipe insulation for the same purpose. The premise is to roll each part of the sandwich onto the "rollers", smoothing as you go, and then unroll them all together, either pinning or spray-basting as you unroll and smooth. I bought three pieces of insulation wrap to give it a try and will report on my findings!

Brandon, Raegan, and us (my hair is hiding in a ponytail!)
We got to meet the oldest grandson's lovely girlfriend over lunch at a place called Son Of A Butcher on Lower Greenville in Dallas on Sunday. Raegan is in law school at University of Oklahoma and was in town for the OU-Texas game. The menu was all sliders, and we ate outside in near perfect weather.

My playlist for the coming week:
1. Get finished with The Wedding Quilt
2. RBD quilt
3. Coin purses and crochet hat
4. Autumn wall hanging - maybe from this Wind Drifter pattern featured on Wendy's post - she made a gorgeous version!

That's it for me, now let's see what you have coming up! Just click on the link below, add your post, and go visit your friends and give them a pat on the back or a word of encouragement. 1. I will watch the videos, for me is also less-than-pleasant sandwiching a quilt on the floor. Because of this my UFO chest is overflowing. Beautiful family photo. Have a great week, Linda.

  2. All the best with quilting the Wedding Quilt. I have seen the pool noodles but don't use it. I have a dining table that is not worth that much and it is good for sandwiching a quilt, I just pin and move it around till its done. I found clamps at a local hardware store.

  3. I haven't been to Lowe's for a couple of weeks. I'm just getting used to the idea of fall, I haven't even thought about Christmas yet!

  4. You did well with your to do list for last week. Your grandson was probably not too happy about the OU/Texas game, it definitely wasn't pretty for OU. Grad Girl had to think about who she should root for she graduated from OSU and is now at Texas A&M. She decided to just feel sorry for OU. Happy stitching this week.

  5. I've used the pool noodle method for basting quilts, and it has worked pretty well for me. Somehow I ended up going back to doing it on the floor, though, lol! I do need a new Christmas tree this year, so need to check Lowes' selection here. I've been looking other places, but haven't found one that appeals to me yet. Your lunch with your grandson and his girlfriend looks fun!

  6. Looks like a good week, Linda! Sandwiching a quilt is a lot of work. I’m trying quilt as you go, which requires sandwiching and quilting one block at a time. We shall see!

  7. Christmas is showing up in our stores too! Mixed with Halloween and some fall Thanksgiving stuff. I was in Walmart for the first time in a while and was appalled at the pallets in the aisles and the general mess of display shelves. They won't entice me to buy this year. "Rant over"
I have seen the pool noodle idea, but pool noodles are not available now so the idea of pipe insulation is a good one. I may give it a try on a smaller project. My bigger ones just have to go to a long arm quilter. I just can't . Fun to see your face with a bit of family. I love sliders!!

  8. I am not feeling the pull of Christmas - feeling like I missed the summer with my darn ankle! I have used a similar method for basting a quilt and it is much better than climbing on a ladder or crawling on a floor! Good luck with your week!

  9. I haven't really been in any stores except grocery and Hobby Lobby and they have had Christmas out for a while now and putting out more. You have a fun playlist for the week:)

  10. Good luck on the wedding quilt. I was in Lowes about a month ago and they were setting the Christmas displays. Oy. But, from the retail side, hubs was a Lowes manager many many moons ago and he explained to me that they often set these displays early because there is nothing else to go there. Way easier than putting something there temporarily and then switching it out again. (I guess Halloween/Thanksgiving just don't require all that space?). Looks like fun times with family there!

  11. Yes, it seems Halloween and Christmas things are almost coming out at the same time these last couple of years. Thanks for the mention, Linda, and I still haven't gotten over how hard that experience was. Must be my age now. I am not good above a three step stool now so I don't think a wall would work. I've seen a few videos of the pool noodles and I have a few of those so I will consider that next time. I will be interested in how the insulation wrap if you get a chance to try it. Have a great week.

  12. I look forward to hearing how the sandwiching works out. I don't have a longarm, but want to try my hand at edge-to-edge on my embroidery machine (for throw size quilts). I don't like putting everything on the floor - I have dogs and even if I vacuumed I'd still have dog hair embedded in the quilt :-) I am a UT alum, and enjoyed the OU game more than many in previous years :-)

  13. Honestly, I never feel the pull of Christmas. Generally, I approach it with dread. Just the thought of seeing decorations in the stores makes me want to don sniper gear. ;-) Pattie @ Olla-Podrida

  14. Hi Linda! I saw the same thing when I visited Sam's Club recently - all the Christmas trees and display, with just a wee bit of Halloween. It seems crazy early but in 12 weeks it will be January already. How nice that you got to eat lunch with your grandson and his GF. That is just priceless. Good luck with the rollers for layering as well as your list for the week. {{Hugs}} a bunch. ~smile~ Roseanne

  15. always nice to see family isn't it. I have not tried pool noodles or the kind you show. If I need to baste a large quilt I pin the backing to my living room carpet and layer and sit on top of it - straighten out my back as I go if needed. Thankfully I don't pin baste a quilt often considering I have a three roller frame

    1. I'm thinking I might try to invent the ultimate method of basting and go on Shark Tank - lol!

  16. The pool noodle idea is a bit the same as my grandmother, mom and the other church ladies prepped their quilts for the quilting bees, although they used 2 x 4's and clamps (wish I would've paid more attention). I'll be interested to hear how the tubing works for you! Nice that you were able to spend time with your grandson and his girlfriend!

  17. I know the Christmas decorations are already out there, so I'm avoiding the stores!!! I love Christmas, but it's way too early! I just sandwich on my longarm but if I didn't have one, those pool noodles/pipe cover might just work! Looking forward to your report. I'm glad you had a lovely outing with your grandson and were able to meet his girlfriend! Have a great week, Linda!

  18. What a lovely lunch date you had. I tried the board method, which is the same only you use 2x4s. It just didn't work for me. But now I have the new frame so I no longer need to layer on the floor!!!

    1. I saw someone else mention using boards. I still haven't tried it. I'm bogged down with squirrels - waaaaah!
