To Do Tuesday 1-24-23

It's time for To Do Tuesday, when bloggers link up posts about their goals and accomplishments or progress at the blog of Carol, aka Quilt Schmilt! Thank you for hosting and helping to keep us accountable, Carol!

Today we are supposed to get rain mixed with snow - I'm excited! We do receive occasional snow here in far north Texas, but not enough for me! It should be a good day to stay in the sewing room and make some yummy soup in the crockpot!

Speaking of crockpots, Wendy at Ivory Spring is hosting a  Crockpot Weekend SAL on January 27-29. You can find a free pattern and details right here. I will be participating with some HSTs I have all ready to go. She has suggested crockpot meals for each day. Hubs is not a big crockpot meal fan (I don't understand!), so I'll probably do a crockpot loaded potato soup one day and a crockpot cocktail wiener appetizer the next.

These were my goals for last week:
❌1. RBD challenge block #3 - Not done, but there is no block for this week, so I will stay caught up.
❌2. Apply the SAHRR prompt for the week - Prompt for Spools was given yesterday, and I am still contemplating.
✅3. Make Cross My Heart blocks - Done and started on sashing.

A peek at Cross My Heart before sashing

Thank you for your prayers for our DIL. She is scheduled for her lumpectomy on February 2 and will likely have a few weeks of radiation afterward. I know she and my son are sleeping better since the ultrasound biopsy was clear and now she is not anticipating a mastectomy, but she is still understandably anxious about the outcome. I am in process of making the sashing for her quilt and hope to get the flimsy done in the next couple of days. We will take it to our grandson (who is an hour away from us) so he can deliver it next time he goes home for a visit.

Upcoming for this week:
1. Work on Cross My Heart flimsy
2. Work on SAHRR prompt
3. Work on Sewcialites 2 blocks

Be sure to check out other bloggers at Carol's linkup right here!

  1. I would gladly send you some of our snow if I could! Glad the news is good for your DIL, too, although she still has things to go through that I'm sure she's not looking forward to. Your crockpot weekend and the SAL sound like fun! I love the quilt that the host is sharing. Enjoy your projects this week!

  2. Your heart blocks are so pretty. They are going to make a wonderful comfort quilt. I love meals in the crockpot and my husband doesn't mind them. My daughter, however, hated them when she lived at home. Funny, now that she is out on her own, she uses the crockpot. I look forward to seeing your Sewcialites 2 blocks!

  3. I do so hope everything goes well with your daughter in law and thank goodness it will be "just" a lumpectomy that will be bad enough to go through and the radiation - well be sending good thoughts her way.

  6. Hope you get that snow Linda! Some good news for your DIL but still anxiety for sure for her. She'll appreciate your quilt - comforting. Lovely peek at Cross my Heart.

  7. You must live somewhere in my area. I keep hearing on tv that northern counties are going to get some slush, but we're too far south. It rained all morning though and has been cold. I'll just have to enjoy any snow through pictures and pretend our gray skies have snow instead of more rain. Hope your DIL is doing well.

  8. I wish you DIL all of the best. Your heart blocks are looking fabulous and look like a fun project. I do love crockpot meals and potato soup is one of my favorites. Have a great week, Linda .

  9. I hope you had a fun stay-in / snow day! I fabric shopped with a friend and as we got home, it started snowing beautifully! So I ran to pick up my fave soup at a local restaurant and stayed in all afternoon sewing and watching the snow! My kinda day! Wish the snow hadn't all melted though! My hubs is not a big crockpot fan either. His reasoning is what it does to meat textures and I kind of agree with him. (He's a serious griller/smoker guy). Outside of that, though, I do think crockpots are super for soups and things!

  10. Hi Linda I do hope you got and enjoyed the snow. It’s coming down here again. So much better than rain! Sending prayers and positive thoughts to your DIL and Son. It’s a rough road for them both. Your HSts look like fun and Cross Your Heart is going to be a sweet quilt. Hope you are having fun with the spool prompt for SAHRR. Thank you for linking with TDT. Good luck this week and have fun. 😉 Carol

  13. Hi Linda! Simba missed talking to you but he did get distracted by the flowers. Those hst are adorable. I can't wait to see what they become. Your hearts are cute. I am so behind this month that I have decided to do a weekend call 24 hours of quilting or #24hoq for short. I started so many new projects that I am struggling to get everything straight in my head. Love your crockpot ideas. I ran out to get stuff to do a loaded potato soup for this weekend as well. I have bean and ham soup in the freezer from last month. I haven't ever tried the weiner idea. Have an awesome week!!

    1. Haha I missed Simba too! I have a ham bone in the freezer - thanks for the reminder! My husband doesn't like crockpot meals unless it's cheese dip or Smokies in a sweet sauce! :D

  14. I’m mad at my crockpots at the moment. Ever since the new one decided to stop working at Christmas, I have been very wary. Prayers for your daughter-in-law, but it sounds as though she has everything well in hand. Pattie @ Olla-Podrida

  15. Thanks for the info about the weekend sew along. I may not participate but I certainly will keep the instructions and include the info on my Feb. 1 report on mysteries and sew alongs. Hope all goes well (and easily) for your daughter-in-law. Thank goodness modern medicine has made such great strides in treatments. Your hearts quilt is looking great. By the way -- you can have any snow that might come our way. We have yet to have more than a few flurries. Very odd for this area. We don't usually get lots of snow but we normally get some snow. Have a great week.

  16. Prayers for you, DIL and family with that all goes well.
I read about the Crockpot Weekend sew along with Wendy. I do like her patterns & style. I have fabric and will most likely join in. Thanks for the link.
