To Do Tuesday 2-7-23

Riley Blake Designs challenge blocks

Happy To Do Tuesday to you! On Sunday I caught up with the Riley Blake Designs challenge - there are four so far. I decided not to make the suggested block for this week (it was a tulip, but not one I cared to make) and instead made a favorite RBD block from last year - a scrappy churn dash (lower right). You can find more of the RBD blocks (including several attractively done tulip blocks!) on Instagram at #rbdblockchallenge2023

At Joann's yesterday I found this beautiful soft fabric to back the quilt for my DIL!

Goals last week:
✔1. Piece a backing for Cross My Heart - Decided on the fabric - pictured above - and bought 5 yards. I will simply sew two pieces together for the backing.
✅2. Get busy on SAHRR - I changed my starting block, caught up, and posted about it here.
✅3. Catch up on Riley Blake block challenge - Done and pictured at the top of this post
4. Make two Sewcialites blocks
5. Play with whatever catches my eye!

SAHRR progress so far

Playlist for this coming week:
1. Back, sandwich, and quilt Cross My Heart
2. Add hourglass blocks to SAHRR
3. RBD challenge block
4. Sewcialites blocks
5. Play!

Now I'm joining with the lovely Carol at Quilt Schmilt, our gracious host for the weekly linkup - just click right here!

  1. it is always nice when making block quilts that if you don't like one you can make something different it is looking good

  2. The Riley Blake blocks are nice and colorful! Your SAHRR project looks great, happy stitching!

  3. Wow! I love your Riley Blake blocks! They are so perfect. I like your substitution of the churn dash instead of the tulips; they seem to fit the other three better. You did well with your To Do list too, more checkmarks than undone. Have fun quilting your DIL quilt this week.

  4. Yikes! You started over on your SAHRR? You must have really focused on it as you did a wonderful job. Love the fabric you found for your daughter's quilt.

  5. Your Riley Blake blocks are lovely. The new fabric you found is beautiful and is a perfect color!

  6. Love your RBD blocks and I think the scrappy churn dash is a perfect substitution.

  7. Loving your RBC blocks, while not doing it this year I can see all the lovely blocks on FB. I think I want to do the Moda Blockheads one this year so I had to choose. Plus of course Sewcialites as well. Love that pink backing.

  8. I really like the RBD blocks - such pretty colors! It's great that it worked for you to substitute another block that you like better. That backing for your DIL's quilt is beautiful! Joann's is a good place for backings. Have a great week, Linda!

  9. I passed on the tulip and spool, now to see what today's block is. Lovely progress on all.

  10. Hi Linda! Your blocks for the RBD challenge are awesome. I really love your colorway. That backing is perfect! Good luck this week. Simba said he missed hearing about Toby's and company adventures.

    1. Thank you dear Peggy. :) Tell Simba I will rectify my posts to include Toby - lol!

  11. RDB blocks look great as your SAHRR project. Good luck with your list for this week, Linda.

  12. Another great week Linda! I love the backing you got for Cross Your Heart. I wish we had a Joanns here.Your RBC blocks are so pretty all together. I cant believe you restarted your SAHRR, but Im really loving the center block, fabrics and the way you are interpreting the border prompts. Thank you so much for linking with To Do Tuesday. I hope you have a wonderful week filled with fabric, fun and family time. ;)

  13. Such fun blocks. I do love the spool block too and my heart always leaps over a good churn dash. I love that one of your goals is to play with whatever catches your eye. Have a fantastic week, Linda.

  14. So love these blocks you are stitching. You have a real knack for choosing the perfect colourways for them too, Linda.

  15. Oh I love your challenge blocks! Great colors and nice crisp piecing! The colors you've chosen for your SAHRR are really fun--looking good so far. (You started over? Did I miss something?) Do you have a plan for it yet?

  16. I really like the RBD blocks and your SAHRR is coming along very well! AND the fabric for your DIL is very pretty! Hugs How do you like winter today - Humm this is really a crazy South Texas Winter! We are getting rain, but just an inch each week and yesterday just a little.

  17. That backing fabric is lovely! Your SAHRR is coming along beautifully. Hopefully you've got mostly check marks on this week's list.
