To-Do Tuesday - Is It Spring Yet?

One of the slides from the Advanced SKYWARN online class

Between doctor appointments, yard work, and prep for spring weather, there was not much going on in the sewing room these past few days. I did an online Advanced SKYWARN webinar and am still organizing my screenshots to refer to during severe weather. I have signed up to take the class again in April. The weather app on my iPhone is Radarscope, which is used by the majority of trained spotters. Being able to interpret the radar screens during severe weather is a goal of mine, and I want to review all the information again. The class is taught by National Weather Service forecasters at the Fort Worth office. We can ask questions and have them answered during the class, and the instructors are so engaging and kind, willing to share their knowledge, and appreciative of their volunteer audience! You can find more information about the SKYWARN program by clicking the logo in my sidebar.

These blocks from Riley Blake Quilt Block Challenge weren't on my To-Do list,
but they were done and posted about right here!

Reviewing my To-Do Tuesday list from last week:

1. Continue to quilt on squirrel quilt - some progress, but still undecided on quilting

2. Decide on finishing borders for SAHRR block - still thinking

3. Sandwich rose quilt - no progress

4. Get back to work on Exploding Heart blocks - no progress

5. Gardening goals: plan front bed landscaping and prep garden for planting onion sets - I changed my mind about planting onion sets but will plant tomato plants for sure. We have decided to plant azaleas, perennial grasses, and Sunshine Ligustrum in the front beds and I will plant flowers and some herbs in the back beds. Also planning to purchase a peach tree and a Bradford pear tree (ornamental) for the back yard.

My goals this week:

1. Sandwich and quilt rose garden quilt; I really want to get this finished soon, so I can mail it to my niece before my foot surgery, which is scheduled for the first week in April.

2. Plant Sunshine Ligustrum plants; choose and plant tomato plants and landscape plants.

3. Make next block for RBD quilt challenge

Homespun QAL Block by Modernly Morgan

4. Start on Homespun QAL. I purchased the pattern to this pretty quilt by Modernly Morgan and signed up to participate before I scheduled foot surgery! We will see how far I get. I'm in the process of choosing fabric. Our task this week is to cut all the pieces.

We spent yesterday running errands and a hair appointment for me. Today we will make a trip to a plant nursery west of town then drive to babysit this sweet boy while our daughter gets a little break to get her hair done!

Be sure to check out other participants in To-Do Tuesday hosted by Chris at ChrisKnits!

  1. Those Riley Blake blocks are just great, Linda! And I can see why you wanted to participate in the Homespun QAL, too - that's going to make a pretty design. Are you redoing a lot of landscaping at this house? We have some of that to do this year, too. (After the snow melts, lol!) Have fun with your little grand boy today!

  6. Hi Linda! What a fabulously sweet diversion you had today. Gosh, isn't he sweet?! I sure do love those RBD blocks. I don't need to get wrapped up in that but I'm enjoying your participation. The Homespun quilt is going to be a pretty quilt - I love the stars surrounded by those strips to highlight them. I'm sorry you have to have foot surgery. I am guessing that is going to put you out of commission for a bit. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

  8. I think it is so cool that you are a weather spotter. I’ve always had an interest in doing something like that, but never wanted to go on my own to take the class. It is pouring down rain here today, thereby buying delaying my deck conversion project. The rain is supposed to continue for the next 48 hours. Grrrr.

  11. It is that time of year where keeping your finger on the weather happenings is important for safety, especially at drive home time. Good luck with this week's to do list.
