To Do Tuesday 5-31-22

It's the last day of May and time for To Do Tuesday! I hope all of you had a nice Memorial Day weekend. If you are new here, just click on the relaxed couple pictured above and read all about it. We share our posts by clicking on the link below - all creative minds are welcome! And if you don't think you are creative, join in anyway - you never know who you will inspire along the way!

A big thank you to all who have commented, comforted, and encouraged me about cataract surgery. The consultation was last Friday, and the doctor answered all my questions. My surgeries are scheduled for July 6 and July 20. In the meantime I can wear my contacts again - yay! After 30 years of wearing contacts, I was a big whiner about having to wear 5-year old nerdy glasses on my nose!

Here were the goals for last week:
❌1. RBD blocks
✅2. Cataract consultation on Friday - Done!
❌3. Get started on Pieces in the Garden row #4
✅4. Make a decision on the Wedding Quilt - I may change the pattern! - Done - after seeking advice from family, I am going with a simpler design

Our daughter brought the Littles over on Sunday for some of our favorite snacks.
Afterwards, we headed to town to get ice cream. Fun times!

Besides the usual errands and appointments, I'm looking forward to some sewing goals this week:
1. Finish layout for The Wedding Quilt - I hope to do a post about it this week!
2. Catch up on Pieces in the Garden for last month
3. Finish RBD blocks

Come on and join in the fun by clicking the link below and adding your post! We'd love to see what you are sharing this week, and all are welcome. The link will close on Monday, June 6 at 11:59PM.

FYI, Marsha of Marsha's Spot often joins us for To Do Tuesday, but due to some technical issue, I am unable to access her website from the Inlinkz link. If you have the same issue, just copy the text below and paste it into your browser:

To Do Tuesday 05-24-22

Welcome to To Do Tuesday for this 22nd day of May! I don't know about you, but my May is flying by. We have had "record heat" for May that finally got a break last Friday night in the form of a cool front, when the temperature dropped from 82 to 62 in about 30 minutes. These past few days have been more May-like - what a relief!

A house we loved, but it wasn't meant to be!

We have been distracted for the past month or so by flirting with the idea of selling our house. The market is crazy good in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and has extended to include our area 60 miles north of Dallas. Houses in our little town are selling pretty quickly, and two houses on our neighborhood have commanded surprisingly good prices. We have been looking and had our eye on one house in particular in a larger town about 15 miles west of us (and 15 miles closer to our daughter!) We submitted a verbal contingency offer on Friday, but the sellers accepted another offer after showings over the weekend. We are disappointed but philosophical and will decide soon whether or not to put our house on the market.

I've been battling a head cold since Monday, and finally my sore throat turned into laryngitis, which has been quite interesting. Add that to house distractions, and no sewing was done. I did enjoy a few brief moments picking out fabric for the final two RBD blocks

So here were the goals for last week:
✅1. Drive to meet our daughter and babysit little Everett while she has lunch with a friend on Wednesday - Our daughter had a lovely lunch while we took Ev to Whataburger - we had a great time!
✅2. Doctor appointments Tuesday and Thursday - Done, plus house hunting
❌3. Do as much sewing as I can squeeze in. I won't be able to wear my contacts starting Friday in order to prep for a cataract evaluation the following Friday. I can wear my glasses but they are 5 years old and not very effective. Nope.

Goals for the coming week:
1. RBD blocks
2. Cataract consultation on Friday
3. Get started on Pieces in the Garden row #4
4. Make a decision on the Wedding Quilt - I may change the pattern!

And now it's time for you to link up your post! After you add your link, grab a cuppa and visit a few blogs to see what others are up to - be sure to check back later in the week for new links! Laney and Everett anticipating their Funfetti cupcakes!

Here were the goals for last week:
✅1. Wedding Quilt - get blocks sewn together - Progress - I put a few of the little blocks together
❌2. RBD block challenge #15 - No progress - printed the pattern and that was it
❌3. Work on Pieces in the Garden block #4 - No progress yet
✅4. Garden activity -  Done - I put cages around the biggest tomato plants and planted green beans and impatiens
✅5. A belated birthday party for our two Littles, who are coming to visit with our daughter Saturday - Had burgers, deviled eggs, and chips and cupcakes and had a great time!

My goals for this coming week:
1. Drive to meet our daughter and babysit little Everett while she has lunch with a friend on Wednesday.
2. Doctor appointments Tuesday and Thursday.
3. Do as much sewing as I can squeeze in. I won't be able to wear my contacts starting Friday in order to prep for a cataract evaluation the following Friday. I can wear my glasses but they are 5 years old and not very effective.

My left eye has been needing cataract surgery since last summer, but only in the few months has my eyesight truly deteriorated. I often catch myself hunched over the sewing machine, and ripping apart mistakes is a daily activity. It even messes with my concentration. I'm not looking forward to surgery, but I've heard that it is pain-free and very beneficial, so I'm counting on a successful procedure!

Enough about me, now show me what you have been up to for the past week! After you link up, visit a few blogs, then come back later in the week and click on later entries and be inspired and uplifted, as I am each week by you! The link party is open each week at 12:01AM on Tuesdays and closes at 11:59PM on Mondays.

To Do Tuesday 5-10-22

It's that time again - today is To Do Tuesday! You are invited to link up a post where you may share your weekly goals, events in your life, ongoing or new projects, or show off your progress and finishes. Please add your post to the link at the bottom of this post, then grab a cuppa to go visit some great blogs! The link opens on Tuesdays at 12:01AM and closes on Mondays at 11:59PM

I kept my goals simple last week:
✅1. Work on Wedding Quilt - Progress was made - I had to reorganize the pieces for the blocks, and some of the labels were missing. My kitty assistants are suspected.
✅2. Access Passport To Quilting - I saved a few patterns and enjoyed visiting the websites.

RBD challenge block #14 "Mosaic Butterfly" pattern by Jennifer Long of Bee Sew Inspired

I did finish the Riley Blake Designs challenge block, which I forgot to put on my list. I had a few missteps but they will not be seen from a galloping horse, and I like the final result. There are only two more blocks to go! Other than that, we had appointments last week and yesterday and worked in the yard a few times, so the sewing room was not visited too often.

Here are my goals for the coming week:
1. Wedding Quilt - get blocks sewn together
2. RBD block challenge #15 - pattern comes out today
4. Garden activity -  I have plants growing in our veggie garden and our first marble sized tomato!
5. A belated birthday party for our two Littles, who are coming to visit with our daughter Saturday.

I can't wait to see what you have to link up this week! I am constantly amazed and inspired and entertained by your posts. Please be sure to check back and visit other blogs during the week as they link up, and if you have any issues with Marsha's Spot, just copy the text below and paste it into your browser:

To Do Tuesday 5-3-22

Welcome to To Do Tuesday on this first Tuesday in May! If you are new to To Do Tuesday, this is the day we share our accomplishments from the past week and look forward to new goals for the next. Click on the busy couple above for more information and please join us!

I encourage you to visit the links below where you will find so much inspiration and friendliness. Thank you all for being so faithful to link up each week. Your posts inspire me and encourage me more than you'll ever know!

Last week my husband began the procedure for teeth implants. His appointment was supposed to start at 10:00AM, but then his surgery was delayed until 1:30 due to miscommunication about his heart issues. He had six teeth implants placed, and he did very well with no problems. We ended up finally getting home around 6:00PM. He has been a pretty good patient, but the temporary dentures are quite uncomfortable. Hopefully he can get those adjusted this week. Now we wait about 6 months for his implants to heal before final placement.

Top row: Bow blocks; Middle row: Friendship Stars; Bottom row: Bachelor blocks

I had prepped the final four Bachelor blocks so that I could finish them up after his surgery and post them on the monthly linkup on Melva Loves Scraps, but due to the surgery delay I did not make the deadline, Melva posted my progress anyway (thank you Melva!). Over the weekend in a flurry of chain piecing, I finished the blocks, and the photo above is the completed row as well as the other two rows. The next row is "Hours" and that pattern block is found right here.

Here were my goals from last week:
❌1. Get busy on the Wedding Quilt - Nothing!
❌2. Do some squirrel sewing - Not even squirrels entered the sewing room!
❌3. Finish quilting Indian Corn (See above - this is a quilt I wanted to have finished for Thanksgiving last year and ran out of gold thread before I finished quilting it!) - Nada - I've put it back in the closet
✅4. Finish Pieces In The Garden blocks and do a post - Done - photo above

Have you heard about Passport To Quilting? It's a 5-day event hosted by 20+ designers who are offering a free "bundle" of patterns to participants and will offer shop discounts. Amy Smart of Diary of a Quilter is one of the designers, and you can read all about it on her post right here, or click the logo above to be taken straight to registration.

I'm keeping it simple for the coming week:
1. Work on Wedding Quilt
2. Access Passport To Quilting
